Third Night (New Years Eve): Acacia Forest

This is the last post regarding our Christmas trip to Oman. After having lunch at Khor Najd we headed further away from Khasab and past a few very small settlements where we found the Acacia Forest. Straight away we knew this is where we would set up camp for New Years Eve. We pitched our tent amongst the trees - I loved our campsite! It was important to keep our food and garbage in the truck, not because of bears but because the forest was surrounded by mountains and the goats liked this area. Finally, our last and final attempt for a night in the tent was successful – the forest provided a very calm, albeit cold, evening. Being in the mountains made for cooler temperatures and at 7:30am on New Years day it was 9° Celsius. Our sleeping bags were obviously for summer dessert temperatures - I wonder if MEC delivers to the Middle East? Pictures of Khor Najd & the Acicia Forest can be found on the sidebar in the album called "Khor Najd & Acicia Forest".
