Boudhanath Stupa

After breakfast we drove to the ancient Boudhanath Stupa which is one of the largest Stupas in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On our way we passed a not very well maintained statue of the first woman to ascend Everest and a good example of health and safety being practiced the Nepali way. When we arrived at the Stupa there was a music video being made at the site – no one we recognised. We took in the sights, saw Buddhists praying, turned some prayer wheels and picked up a painting of a Mandala (concentric diagram having spiritual and ritual significance in both Buddhism and Hinduism).
